A new report by Child Poverty Action Group reveals that the capital has been hard hit by changes to the benefits system. The report was funded by the Trust.

Victims of modern day slavery still experience significant barriers to accessing justice in UK

This is according to Access to Justice for Victims of Trafficking – a working paper by Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX). The paper was funded by the Barrow Cadbury Trust. We funded strategic work on Modern Day Slavery from 2007-2010 and are currently funding FLEX to do policy work and capacity building in the voluntary sector, in relation to trafficking.

New funding to increase employment amongst young black men

The Trust is pleased to announce this new initiative which aims to tackle rates of unemployment amongst young black men – a group that has higher unemployment rates than all other groups of young people.

1 million people could be lifted out of low pay by 2020

This is a finding from the final report of the Living Wage Commission which was covered extensively in the news this week. The Trust welcomes the report which draws on evidence funded as part of our strategic work on the Living Wage.

Most of  migrants  leave their countries as asylum seekers fleeing persecution, lack of freedom and human rights abuses. Other leave their countries just to look for new opportunities.
