| | · Online preparation: from Monday 16 June 2014 · Daily classes at LSE: Monday 23 June – Friday 27 June 2014 · Online assignment: until Friday 4 July 2014 Application deadline: 12 noon, Thursday 8 May 2014 · Include academic writing, analysis and discursive skills · Explore relevant current research and use this to reconnect with research topics · Focus on academic reading with a view to incorporating conventions and practice into writing style · Look at targeting journals and adapting writing styles to specific requirements Who can apply? · Applicants must be based in the UK. They will either have refugee status (or equivalent) or be in the process of applying for asylum in the UK. · Applicants should have worked as a lecturer or researcher in a University or higher education institution in their country of origin. · Applicants should be enrolled on a postgraduate (taught or research) programme in a UK higher education institution or be in the process of applying. · Applicants must have a good level of English (between 5 and 7.5 IELTS). It is not necessary to take an IELTS test. The applicant's language level will be assessed via the written application and an informal interview. How to apply Applications (to be received by 12 Noon, Thursday 8 May 2014) must consist of the following: · A completed application form · an up to date CV · a copy of Home Office documentation verifying the applicant’s legal status in the UK Timeline · Applications must be received by 12 Noon, Thursday 8 May 2014 · Short and informal interviews will be held on Monday 19 May 2014 · Applicants will be notified no later than Friday 23 May 2014 More information The Reconnect with Research programme is run by the Language Centre and Scholars at Risk Scheme from the Centre for the Study of Human Rights at LSE.
