NEWS

COP21 - Next steps

OECD at COP21The Paris Agreement at COP21 marks a decisive turning point in our response to climate change. It is especially heartening for the OECD as one of the first international bodies to call for zero net emissions in the second half of the century, for a price on carbon and for greater efforts to channel finance into the low carbon economy. Now that we have an agreement with teeth, the OECD will continue to work with governments to help remove the barriers to climate action that are built into existing policies from the fossil-fuel age in everything from investment, taxation, electricity, land use and transport.

Centre for Opportunity and Equality

Centre Opportunity and EqualityThe OECD has long been the world's leading source of information and analysis of trends in inequality in developed countries. The OECD has launched the Centre for Opportunity and Equality to promote its research and provide a forum to discuss how policies can best address inequalities in areas including income, wealth, health and education, and their social and economic consequences.

Migration Insights

Migration InsightsThe OECD has been monitoring recent developments in migration movements and policies in OECD countries, and analysing integration policies of immigrants and their children into education and labour markets. Most recent publications scrutinise the factors that facilitate human trafficking, as well as the smuggling routes to OECD countries; the impact of how school systems respond to immigration on the economic and social well-being of all members of the communities they serve; and the potential fiscal and labour market impact of the refugee crisis in Europe. Read more about OECD's work on Migration here.

Corporate governance and business integrity

Trust & BusinessThe Trust & Business Project promotes a discussion about the effective integration of business integrity considerations into a company's decision making. Its most recent report, on "Corporate governance and business integrity" takes stock of corporate practices tying business integrity considerations into corporate governance frameworks, strategy and operations, and assesses what factors influence business decisions to implement business integrity measures in practice. If you're interested in contributing to the Trust & Business project, please visit this website.

John Major praises 'guts and drive' of immigrants in the UK

John Major praises 'guts and drive' of immigrants in the UK Comments: Mr John Major  is right about migrants in the UK and worldwide. Most of  migrants  leave their countries as asylum seekers fleeing persecution, lack of freedom and human rights abuses. Other leave their countries just to look for new opportunities. Arriving in the new countries such as UK , they work hard to survive. In most cases they have left their families and relatives. They have to share their earnings with the people their left behind and to support the education of their relatives.  They live in disadvantageous situations because they  are not  in the same situation like the British people who  have families that  help them to set up a business for example, pay their education, help them to raise funding or to get a bank loan, to inherit houses and other assets. They face institutional discrimination because most of the...
